Newhaven Pram Race Rules
Entry to this fun event is restricted to licensed premises in Newhaven. Outright winners shall receive a trophy and will undertake the organisation of the following year’s competition which shall then finish at that establishment (except Hampden Arms & Flying Fish.)
Two members per team. Each club/pub may enter a maximum of two teams each year.
A half pint of lager/cider/fizzy drink must be consumed by each team member at all participating venues.
Team members shall alternate pushing of and sitting in prams between venues.
All teams shall use traffic crossings and subways where they exist. Whereas the organisers shall provide marshals as appropriate, ultimately you are responsible for your own safety. We strongly recommend that ‘babies’ wear head protection in case of a spill!
Teams enter at their own risk.
Teams must visit each establishment in the correct order. On leaving a venue each team member is required to collect a stamp unique to that pub/club. Failure to collect just one stamp may disqualify your team.
Although prams are preferred, any non-motorised vehicle is permitted. Teams are free to construct their own contraptions but unsporting ones (including pedal-powered machines) will be disqualified.
Both team members must finish their drinks and each collect a final stamp from the last venue to be deemed to have completed the course.
The first team to complete the circuit will be declared winners.
Although it is not obligatory to wear it, each year there will be a prize for the best fancy dress.
